AM Gap Down
A
gap
down
is when a stock opens lower,
in the morning, than its previous
close. More often than not,
the stock will attract "bargain
hunters" very early, which
creates a bounce. The idea is
to jump on board soon after
the open and ride it back up.
The AM Gap Down filter will
display all stocks, in pre-market,
that are set to spike lower.
This filter is intended for
pre-market only.

|
Big
Bouncers (for daytrading)
This
is one of the best ways to make
money in down markets---and
without shorting. The idea is
to locate stocks that have fallen
substantially, but are destined
to bounce. Most bounces occur
on a predetermined support level,
which is a significant part
of this filter. Using the Pivot
Points formula, this Big Bouncers
filter screens for all stocks
that have fallen, but are at
or near major support levels.
|
|

|
Day
Trader's Bounce
Similar to "Big Bouncers" except Day Trader's Bounce looks for stocks near
the first level of near-term
support (Big Bouncers look for
a second level of support).
In other words, if a stock is
heading lower, Day Trader's
Bounce includes the stock if
it is near the first Pivot Point
support level, whereas Big Bouncers
includes the stock if it has
fallen through that first level
and is near a second level of
support. |

Breakouts
(long)
A
breakout is when a stock breaks
above a known resistance level,
usually accompanied by above-normal
volume. Breakouts are excellent
swing trades as long as the
market sentiment is positive
(you should avoid playing breakouts
in a bear market). The Breakouts
filter uses the Donchian Channel
to detect a break through resistance,
accompanied by the Volume Change
formula.

|
Gar's
Swing Trades (long)
This
filter is the equivalent to
the older "MACD Curve"
filter in StockVision. Using
the MACD histogram, this filter
will flag the best candidates
for near-term gain. This one
is excellent for multiday "swing"
trades.
|
|

|
Gar's
Swing Trades (short)
This
filter is the equivalent to
the older "MACD Curve Down"
filter in StockVision. Using
the MACD histogram, this filter
will flag the best candidates
for near-term losses, which
is good for short selling This
one is excellent for multiday
"swing" (short-sell) trades.
|
|

|
Bollinger
Squeeze (long)
Based
on Bollinger Bands, this filter
is based on the repeating pattern
that lowering volatility is
the prelude to a sudden "awaking"
of a stock. This filter uses
contracting Bollinger Bands
to detect decreasing volatility
in recent sessions, and at the
same time, checks for some indicators
that reveal a renewed buying
interest. This can produce powerful,
multiday upside.
|
|

|
Caving
This
is a bear filter, which screens
for stocks that appear to be
collapsing, and might have a
lot more downside.
|
|

|
Overbought
This
is a bear filter, which screens
for stocks that show overbought
indicators. It uses both RSI
and Williams %R to spot the
most overbought stocks in the
master list.
|
|

|
Oversold
This
is a bull filter, which
screens for stocks that show
oversold indicators. It uses
both RSI and Williams %R to
spot the most oversold stocks
in the master list.
|
|

|
Big
Buy Volume
A
simple filter that shows the
stocks that are trading well
above their normal volume for
today, and are to the upside.
It differs from Big Sell Volume
since these stocks are getting
buying pressure and not selling
pressure.
|
|

|
Penny
Ante
A
"penny stock" filter.
This screens for stocks below
$7 that are showing signs of
possible multiday upside. It
uses the MACD histogram as well
as Volume Change to detect the
move. The Price Constraint formula
is used to keep the filtered
stocks below $7.
|
|

|
Penny
Ante Darkside
Identical
to Penny Ante except it locates
stocks that are falling strongly.
A decent short selling filter.
|
|

|
AM
Gap Up
A
cousin to the "AM Gap Down"
filter, but this one is for
a bearish play. A gap up means
the stock is poised to open
much higher than its previous
close. A stock that is gapping
up will often draw sellers early,
which gives a good entry for
short sellers. This filter is
intended for pre-market only.
|
|

|
Snappers
High
volatility stocks. This filter
screens for the stocks that
show the most movement, in either
direction, in the most recent
session. It scans a 30-minute
chart for 5 bars for movement.
|
|

|
Cheapie
Breakouts
Identical
to the Breakouts filter except
it excludes all stocks above
$7. Hence, you might consider
this a "penny stocks breakout"
screen.
|
|

|
Strong
Uptrend
Screens
for stocks that reveal a very
strong uptrend from recent data.
It uses ADX as the main component
to detect the strength of the
trend.
|
|

|
Trap
Door
Emulates
the old StockVision "trap
door" feature. This filter
reports stocks that have a sudden
spike lower in a short period
of time.
|
|

|
Lunar
Bounce
Screens
for stocks near their session
low, which is intended for use
near the market close. The idea
of the Lunar Bounce is to catch
a stock getting hammered into
the closing bell, and hold into
overnight for a bounce.
|
|

|
Multiday
Upside Potential
A
good filter for "swing"
trades, this filter uses ADX
to detect a rising trend, but
for stocks that are closer to
their 52-week low versus their
52-week high. In other words,
there is much room for upside,
as they are likely oversold.
|
|

|
Parabolic
Screamer
Stocks
that have had a huge rise in
price in the last hour or so.
The idea is to catch them on
the way down (as a short sell),
or wait for them to fall hard
and play the bounce.
