Frequently
Asked Support Questions
Q:
Is the screning in the trial
offer version real-time, or
is it delayed? A:
The trial version is 100% identical
to the 'real' version. The only
difference is that a trial user
will expire, while a paid user
never expires. In all cases,
the screens in OracleTrader
are generated with real-time
data.
Q:
Does OracleTrader require me
to have a real-time quote streamer? A:
No. The real-time screener is
controlled from our servers.
You don't need anthing else
except OracleTrader and an internet
connection. You would only nead an additional
quote streamer if you wanted
to see real-time quotes for
'bid,' 'ask', and 'last trade'
in the personal watch list.
Otherwise, all lists and ratings
are derived from real-time data
on our servers.
Most users find that their existing
streamer (such as the free services
from their broker) are more
than adequate. They let OracleTrader
find stocks of interest, and
if they want to watch the dynamic
quotes, they place the ticker
symbol on their broker-provided
streamer.
Q:
I have a laptop that I also
want to run the program. Can
I run OracleTrader on more than
one computer? A.
Yes. The program is not tied
to any one computer. You can
download and run on as many
machines as you want, including
Mac OS-X.
Q.
Are the time zones in the main
screen EST time? And if so,
how does that work if my computer
is not set to that time zone? A.
The time zone(s) are always
eastern time (same as the stock
market). However, the clock
time is obtained from the OracleTrader
server, not from your local
machine. Hence, it does not
matter what your clock is set
to.
Q.
How do I find a ticker symbol
if it is not near the top of
a list? A.
Every list shows all
stocks at all times. They simply
get sorted by ranking value.
Hence, to find a simble, turn
off Autosort, then click the
Symbol column to sort by ticker
symbol. You can then quickly
zoom in on the stock of interest.
(You only turn off Autosort
so it doesn't forcefully re-sort
in ranking order while you are
looking for specific symbols).
Q.
I like to go short on stocks
at times. How do I find gOracleFAQ.htm#FAQood
stocks for shorting? A.
All the lists will work in "reverse"
if you have the "Dark Side"
button checked. When you check
Dark Side, each list is sorted
by bearish---not bullish---criteria.
For example, if you choose "Gaps"
with Dark Side turned on, the
list will present all the stocks
gapping UP, not down. The idea
would be to short one that is
spiking high at the open. This
"reverse criteria"
will be true for all lists.
Note: Both day trading
and longer-term sections have
their own Dark Side checkbox.
Q.
Why are there certain ticker
symbols not in the list? A.
Due to bandwidth and symbol
limitations, OracleTrader omits
all stocks trading below $5
per share, and less than 500,000
shares (daily average). This
results in about 1450 stocks.
If the symbol you are interested
in normally trades beyond those
boundaries, it will not be present.
Q:
Is the trading simulator ("Paper
Trader") real-time? A:
All "trades" are executed
from real-time data. The quotes
for open positions, however,
are usually delayed. This is
necessary to avoid legal problems
of providing free real-time
quotes.
