JayBird [1:08]: There is plenty on the docket for next week. The number of companies reporting second quarter earnings will ratchet higher, but there are fewer big names, though the list includes the likes of BP (BP), Boeing (BA), Exxon Mobil (XOM), Sony (SNE) and Visa (V). Economic data/commentary will pick up later in the week with Durable Orders and the Fed Beige Book on Wednesday and the Advance reading for Q2 2010 GDP on Friday. Finally, the next round of Treasury auctions will take place in the middle of the week.

nester [7:50]: NEW YORK (AP) -- Stock futures traded in a narrow range Monday as investors put a recent rally on pause and European markets reacted coolly to tests measuring the health of the continent's banking system.
European markets showed little movement as investors had their first chance to react to a series of tests to determine the health of the continent's big banks. Regulators said only seven of the 91 banks tested would struggle if the continent's economy and government debt problems worsened.
U.S. investors had a chance to react to the test results Friday afternoon and sent stocks higher on the results. Because they already had a chance to trade after the news, U.S. investors had little reason to make any big moves to start the week.
nester [7:51]: WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sales of new homes likely rose from record lows in June, but the market remains weak now that potential buyers can no longer get federal tax credits.
Economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters expect new-home sales grew by 6.7 percent from a month earlier to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 320,000. May's sales pace of 300,000 was the slowest on records dating back to 1963.
The Commerce Department's report is scheduled for at 10 a.m. EDT Monday.
Federal tax credits of up to $8,000 had propped up the housing market this year. Buyers needed to have a signed sales contract by April 30 to qualify, but they have until September 30 to complete the purchase.
Since the credit expired, the number of people shopping for homes has plunged, and homebuilders have become discouraged.
nester [7:52]: SINGAPORE (AP) -- Oil prices hovered near $79 a barrel Monday in Asia as regional stock markets extended a rally from last week amid improving investor optimism.
Benchmark crude for September delivery was down 20 cents at $78.76 a barrel at late afternoon Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell 32 cents to settle at $78.98 on Friday.
Most Asian stock markets rose Monday, taking heart from a 3-percent rally in the Dow Jones industrial average over the final two trading sessions of last week. Oil traders often look to equities as a guidepost of overall investor sentiment.
nester [7:52]: LONDON (AP) -- European stock markets and the euro were steady Monday as investors weighed the results of the stress tests into 91 EU banks -- although the simulations gave a broadly positive view of the region's financial sector, some analysts question their rigor.
In Europe, the FTSE 100 index of leading British shares was down 1.82 point at 5,310.80 while Germany's DAX fell 6.40 points, or 0.1 percent, at 6,159.95. The CAC-40 in France was up 1.23 point at 3,608.28.
Wall Street was also poised for a fairly subdued opening -- Dow futures were down 0.3 percent at 10,356 while the broader Standard & Poor's 500 futures fell 0.1 percent to 1,099.20.
The main point of interest was how the markets would respond to the release of the stress test results, published after the markets closed last Friday.
nester [7:53]: WASHINGTON (AP) -- Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner says the economy is "gradually getting better" and "that's very encouraging."
This comes after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress earlier this week that the outlook for the country is "unusually uncertain."
Geithner says he's seeing "private investment expand again, job growth starting to come back. And that's very encouraging."
The Treasury secretary also said private forecasters say the economy will strengthen "moderately" over the next 18 months. He says the general view from businesses around the country is that they're seeing "an economy that's gradually getting better."
The comments came in an interview to be aired Sunday on NBC News' "Meet the Press."
nester [7:54]: WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Among the companies whose shares are expected to see active trade in Monday's session are Lorillard Inc., Cal-Maine Foods Inc. and Legg Mason Inc

ortrade [11:52]: 1.2k $p on FAZ short 2 trades today till now following Bear/Bull.
Andrew [11:52]: back short BIDU 79.91 (triple position)
Andrew [11:53]: based on the psychological level of 80.00 maybe being a profit-taking area after its big run-up.
Andrew [11:54]: out ARNA no gain/loss
knight [11:55]: take profit TZA from 40,2 to 30,2 on part 3 - easy profit in only one week again
Andrew [11:56]: added to BIDU short 79.83 (double position)
Andrew [11:57]: long FAZ 13.69 (double position)

majour [12:01]: out half of ENTR 7.4 +2.5%
Andrew [12:03]: added back to CIGX short 2.15 (double position)
rw [12:05]: may have to hold cigx over andrew - but no doubt in my mind that it will go down.
Andrew [12:06]: I don't hold stuff over rw if I enter them intending as day trades.
Andrew [12:06]: More often than not if a day trade didn't work for you when you entered it, it won't work the next day and it's easier to get hurt switching time frames on losing trades.
ortrade [12:07]: FAZ 500s@13.66p
JayBird [12:07]: The euro has attracted additional support from currency traders amid word that credit analysts at Fitch said there are no immediate rating implications for banks that failed to pass the European stress tests. The euro now sports a 0.6% gain against the greenback. That puts the euro within reach of its two-month high of $1.303.
Strength in the euro has helped prop up the broader stock market, which has added incrementally to recent session highs.
rw [12:08]: same here andrew but cigx is a special case - they are a loser ---they have some kind of mint with low nitrosemines they lose each quarter.
Andrew [12:08]: Its chart though is wicked strong
rw [12:08]: MO long watcher
rw [12:09]: UVV already up 71cents today...it runs up and down every day on almost no volume
Andrew [12:09]: When you get into fundamentals you need to start thinking more in terms of trading over the course of weeks/months rather than hours or a couple of days.
rw [12:10]: true andrew and thanks but cigx is a special case ------it is a dog that for some reason went up to much today................
rw [12:11]: good comment on trading Andrew...thanks
Andrew [12:12]: That's true that CIGX's move today is highly suspect since lack of news. It might be short covering, and if so, then it could still go a ton higher today.
Andrew [12:13]: There was a gigantic buyer in CIGX who apparently did a sweep buy from 2.10 up to 2.16 (either that or there was a stupid retail buyer who did a huge market buy and the high frequency trading programs got him to pay up at 2.16 instead of 2.12).
rw [12:13]: here is one that i think will go to fifty in time UVV
Andrew [12:14]: 2.10 should say 2.12 there
rw [12:14]: told my inv manager to buy several thousand shares of uvv pays 4% ------not sure if he will we already have MO PM and he says that is enough tobacco stocks LOL
Firedup [12:14]: ARNA long @ 6.49
Andrew [12:15]: Yeah when holding long-term it's better to diversify.
rw [12:15]: andrew UVV usually goes down early afternoon and give back 30 cents or so
Andrew [12:15]: There are other non-tobacco stocks that have great dividends and are in diff. sectors, just my opinion.
ortrade [12:15]: Exit FAZ -22p
rw [12:16]: Firedup...I would watch ARNA I think it needs to overcome some obstacles before going up more big 13 minute red candle......JMO
Andrew [12:16]: The LPX seller lifted or was fully taken out (at least temporarily)
rw [12:16]: I have most andrew MO PFE KFT WMT and so on.
Firedup [12:17]: thanks rw, it feels a little risky
rw [12:17]: But: what do I know firedup probaby should not have said anything-------however please comment on any of my picks at any time....i appreciate it.
LEECO [12:18]: REF_LPXD-earnings whispers concensus is for +0.20 vs last -0.93
Andrew [12:19]: Being long ARNA earlier and watching it under-perform when the market was going up to highs I agree with rw's sentiment.
Andrew [12:19]: At the same time though 6.49 is a pretty good place to take a chance.
fw [12:19]: dont ever use zecco as your broker...they s*ck.....
fw [12:20]: i m so frustrated with them...gonna close zecco account down...
Andrew [12:20]: Did they do something bad today fw?

Andrew [12:26]: Just a small loss rw since I covered a portion at 2.10 earlier
rw [12:26]: good
Andrew [12:26]: I 100% agree that there was favorable risk-reward to attempt to short it near where you mentioned it.
Andrew [12:28]: added to CIGX 2.20
rw [12:28]: i do not short much andrew
fw [12:28]: they messed up some of my trades and i lost close to $500 due to their errors
Andrew [12:28]: CIGX is now on my radar as a potential short squeeze for much of today
rw [12:29]: sorry FW - that is unforgiveable
fw [12:29]: no s*hit
fw [12:29]: i m so pissed
Andrew [12:29]: Wow, that's terrible. Definitely take your business elsewhere.
fw [12:29]: and talking to manager to correct his now..or i wwill close out the account today
fw [12:29]: but they are offering me 10 free trades..
iswing64 [12:30]: sorry to hear that fw..yikes
fw [12:30]: i told them like if you give me 100 free trades mabe that would be even
Andrew [12:30]: Isn't that only like $50 value compared to $500?
Andrew [12:30]: Yeah
fw [12:30]: yea...thats why i said 100 trades would make up my loss
fw [12:32]: their trading platform really s*cks..
fw [12:32]: doesnt auto update balances when a trade is made..
Andrew [12:32]: Yeah, not too good at all.
fw [12:33]: is worse than not to good at all...
Andrew [12:34]: Zecco to me has always just seemed like a more expensive version of Sogotrade or Just2Trade.
fw [12:34]: yea..i m gonna go back to IB...they are so much more advanced then anyone..even thought they cost a little more...
Andrew [12:34]: out AIG tiny gain

fw [12:45]: I dont know andrew it may have a breakout today or tomm..
Andrew [12:45]: Not liking how the momentum in CIGX vanished
Andrew [12:45]: Yeah I agree. I just figured shorting near 5.00 had decent risk-reward since might be a profit-taking level for all those who bought down near 4.00 (20% gain).
fw [12:46]: actually it wiill probebeley pull back down to 4.75
Andrew [12:46]: Shorting today's market is dangerous though.
Andrew [12:47]: The S&P is finally pretty near the 200-day moving avg. though.
Andrew [12:49]: added to S short 4.97 (double position), added to MTL short 23.02 (double position)

Andrew [13:43]: There's been a ton of intraday sideways periods the last few days. There are still sellers around. They are just extremely passive.
madriver [13:43]: I can't wait for ortrade to take a vacation!
Andrew [13:43]: Yes, but not right now
Andrew [13:43]: I'm actually going to be going back to part-time trading in about a month.

Andrew [13:57]: Your cursor gets stuck kojan? That's not supposed to happen.

Andrew [14:06]: back short CIGX 2.12 (triple position)
rw [14:07]: another good call i made on Cigx....hate to brag tho
Andrew [14:08]: It's all about where you enter and place your stop. You would have had to sit through more than a 3% loss in CIGX before getting back in the green.
Andrew [14:09]: I made the mistake of not pulling the trigger short again at 2.18 after the buying momentum completely vanished above 2.20.
rw [14:10]: enough said LOL LOL
Andrew [14:12]: out NXTM tiny loss
Andrew [14:14]: The market volume today's been very horrible for most of the day.

Andrew [14:25]: A repeat of Thursday and Friday... zombie market hovering near highs for a while on weak volume without any momentum higher draws out the sellers in the afternoon and there is profit-taking.

Andrew [14:31]: Might have good risk-reward near 3.15
Andrew [14:32]: out 1/3rd FAZ +1.1%
turbo911 [14:33]: I'll take that advice. I've been in and out of this since early June in the $1.90 - $2.80 range. It has been acting weird over the past few days. Perhaps manipulation? I'll wait for it to come back down as you suggested. Thx.
Andrew [14:34]: If I see it back in the 3.30s today I think it might be a day trade short.
Andrew [14:36]: It might kind of be a short squeeze.
Andrew [14:36]: Its daily chart does look like there's a high chance of manipulation though.

Andrew [15:44]: out ARNA +1.4%
Gar [15:45]: The Dow and NAS should be very accurate, however. And admittedly, the data did lock up earlier today a couple of times. All is running smoothly now, however.
Andrew [15:46]: added to FAZ 13.69 (double position)
Gar [15:46]: The What Works list flipped red earlier, and now they flipped back to green. How are we suppose to trade a market like that?
Andrew [15:46]: out S tiny loss
LEECO [15:47]: Andrew LPX stalled-
Andrew [15:47]: Wow, now Breakouts strong #1. It's been changing all day entirely differently.
ortrade [15:48]: while I belive most likely FAZ will go down into the close is not confirmed by technicals either way so I abstain.
Andrew [15:48]: out half FAZ -1%
Andrew [15:49]: added back the half FAZ 13.64
Andy [15:49]: should I hold BP overnight?
Andy [15:49]: thoughts?
Gar [15:50]: Man it's the volume (lack of) that has constantly bothered me about these rallies. Defies everything I know. Low volume rallies are not good indicators. Yet, this persists, day after day. And even SV buys into it (super green bear/bull meter).
Andrew [15:51]: The VIX is back to the low 20s (below 23 now), so I guess that's probably bullish.
Andrew [15:52]: BP's looking pretty good. Where did you enter?
Andy [15:52]: 36.76
rw [15:52]: I would not hold bp over night.......Earnings come out after close I think - no telling what it could or would do......
ortrade [15:52]: I find any attempt to short when Bear/Bull and trend indicators concur on green likely lead to beg losses.
Andy [15:52]: they report earnings tonight
Andy [15:53]: I know rw, it's a gamble for sure
rw [15:53]: it is a gamble.
Andrew [15:53]: If they report earnings tonight I would definitely not hold then (or only hold enough to play just with your profits from the trade).
Gar [15:53]: ortrade, I know that is true. I tried shorting for the last few days in the papertrade and I have been massacred.
Andy [15:53]: yeah, you guys are probably right
Andrew [15:54]: BP earnings call could be totally crazy
moby [15:54]: Welcome trials

Andy [15:55]: yes, I think it's known that their earnings will not be positive, just not sure how the market will react
Andrew [15:55]: added to FAZ 13.64 (triple position)
Andrew [15:56]: out CIGX +0.93%
Mckoan [15:56]: The market must be pleased that the middle class is loosing their homes, jobs, and basically vanishing off the face of the earth.
Andrew [15:57]: out FAZ -0.63%
iswing64 [15:58]: I don't get it either Mckoan
Andrew [15:59]: People looking forward must see some brighter things or think other countries will pull us up.
fw [16:00]: well that was a preety decent day..
fw [16:01]: got to go..see yall later...
iswing64 [16:01]: bye fw
ortrade [16:01]: after all considerations and complexity, all the market is a scooper of the $$ that come in. It evaluates the imbalance and takes the price in the direction that will bring it back to 50/50.
ortrade [16:03]: decent day for me too. The goal is to keep it that day for the rest of the week. Have a good afternoon.
Andrew [16:04]: Bad day for me - was on the wrong side of the 2 biggest moves today.
Gar [16:05]: Mckoan, I have been dumfounded by this. But it is beginning to remind of me early 2008. Seemed we drifted higher and higher and higher and on no solid news. Oddly, that was right before the mega crash.
iswing64 [16:05]: If anyone cares to backtest..there is a p-sar long today on DOW weekly.
Andrew [16:07]: I'm hoping for an enormous gap up tomorrow morning to finally draw out more profit-takers.
iswing64 [16:08]: Have a good day all.
rw [16:22]: down aboout $75.00 on MO trade but holding over - they usually work out in at 22.05 mo now 21.99
Andrew [16:23]: Looks like a pretty safe type of stock to hold over
Andrew [16:33]: I actually wound up doing better than I thought since I had enough medium-sized winners to more than make up for my losing trades even though I didn't have any big winners today.
fw [17:58]: hey whats the best way keep track of your profits and losses per trade and commisions etc..?
Andrew [18:12]: A basic spreadsheet normally works well.
Andrew [18:13]: Symbol, long/short, date/time of entry, entry price, date/time of exit, exit price, profit/loss, commissions, net result.
fw [18:14]: kool thx
fw [18:14]: hey also whats new in the new sv
Andrew [18:15]: The main change in the new "Ask Gar" button in the top left that initiates a private chat with Gar (or if he's not available, a staff member/mentor person).
Andrew [18:15]: *is the new
fw [18:16]: oh ok
Andrew [18:17]: There's also a great new Powerscan version in the works that will be extremely customizable.
porti [18:18]: @andrew what would you think about "aone" i didnt sell today, and now it keeps me awake... in 10.80, where should i place my stop loss?
porti [18:19]: where would you consider of leaving it, when it doesnt gap more up, would you sit it out?
Andrew [18:19]: I'll take a look at the charts in different time frame frames... AONE can be a tricky one. It's gotten hammered this year.
Andrew [18:20]: What time of day did you buy it?
porti [18:20]: ok, will do that...looking up now
porti [18:22]: at about 02:00 your time
porti [18:23]: really stupid of me...i saw it in the hot stocks tab, decent volume good rating etc
Andrew [18:25]: The main places I'd place stops would be either 10.56 or 10.48 or 10.33 or 10.14 or 9.93 depending on how much you want your max loss to be (in case you bought the top).
Andrew [18:26]: Short-term upside potential looks to be maybe 11.30ish if it can get above 11.00 and stay up there.
porti [18:26]: Great, thats a big help. I quess it was the top, but i dont hope for it... will write that down
porti [18:27]: i will go for 10.33
Andrew [18:28]: I like that one.
Andrew [18:29]: If you get a nice gap up in it tomrrow though you might want to consider selling some and then buying it back again lower (or once it appears stronger again).
porti [18:29]: thanks, will do so and see tommorow how things work out
Andrew [18:30]: There is a potential for a continued short squeeze in it if the market holds up tomorrow.
porti [18:31]: thats a good idea, will have to see, but i am sure the market will give up their gains sometime this week and i hope its not tommorow.
porti [18:32]: Well, thanks for youre opinion, c u tommorow. Good night all, half past 12 here.....
Andrew [18:32]: You're welcome. Good night.
