jim [9:04]: Stock index futures rose on Monday, building on last week's gains and tracking higher global equities, after strong euro zone industrial data and as oil prices advanced.
European shares hit a four-week high after data showed euro zone industrial output surged in April more than in any month in almost two decades, easing concerns that a slowdown in Europe could curb growth.

jim [9:05]: NEW YORK (Reuters) - The U.S. labor market will hold the key to a recovery in the hard-hit housing sector, according to a Harvard University report released on Monday.
Record high foreclosures and a high jobless rate both pose significant challenges to the housing market, but some recovery in labor markets and record low mortgage rates could partly overcome other pressures, said the study from the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard.
jim [9:06]: 09:02 am : S&P futures vs fair value: +7.50. Nasdaq futures vs fair value: +12.30. The tone to premarket traded remains upbeat as the euro continues to gain ground against the greenback. The euro was last quoted with a near 1.3% gain at $1.227, a morning high. Commodities have also caught a strong bid, such that the CRB Commodity Index is up 1.0%. Higher oil prices are largely responsible for that move; crude oil prices are up 2.7% to $75.80 per barrel in the first few minutes of pit trade. Natural gas prices sport a strong 3.0% gain at $4.93 per MMBtu. As for precious metals, gold prices are down 0.5% to $1222.30 per ounce, but silver has made its way to a 1.3% gain at $18.46 per ounce.

Origin Agritech (NASDAQ: SEED - News) is Thursday's biggest winner after the firm announced the acquisition of an 80% stake in Shandong Kunfeng Biochemical Limited for approximately $2.2 million. Origin founder Dr. Gencheng Han said, "We believe this quality and accretive acquisition will increase our ability to penetrate a market space toward a clear, focused strategic path for our company and shareholders," in a statement.

Hyperion [13:16]: "The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president."
"The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince."
The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

carr [14:52]: The current 60 m elliott pattern on $INDU shows down for a bit, to around 10k then up for the wave 5.
iswing64 [14:54]: Ok thanks carr..
iswing64 [14:55]: I have that on my chart software..just haven't got around to checking it out.
iswing64 [14:57]: catch ya later carr..take care.
LEECO [14:58]: carr-did you ever edit that message that
LEECO [14:59]: I proposed to send to Mr. Knapp
carr [15:16]: Hey Andrew where have you been today?
Andrew [15:17]: Hi carr. I'm busy with some other stuff this week, so I expect not to be trading as much.
Andrew [15:18]: Yet again the market seems to be moving higher on diminishing volume, and there was another failure at the 200-day moving avg. again.
carr [15:18]: Good for the longs
ortrade [15:20]: FAZ 400@14.98$pe
Andrew [15:20]: I don't think either the longs or the shorts should be too confident with the recent price movement.
ortrade [15:21]: add to FAZ 400@15.02$pe
carr [15:21]: For me right now it is not about confidence, it is all about emptying the dog bag. LOL
Andrew [15:22]: Which companies do you still have?
LEECO [15:23]: carr-I am in same boat-w/seed/peix,gy,dac,pcx,snss, jci and some nbear ETF's
rw [15:25]: read good reports on Seed
LEECO [15:26]: rw-SEED is below $ 9
rw [15:27]: I know leeco - but reports of future were good - looked at stock research ---unless i am confusing it with something else.. hope not.. LOL
lindo [15:28]: I took one horrible bath on SEED
ortrade [15:28]: potential selloff now..
rw [15:28]: Sorry to hear that Lindo.
Andrew [15:28]: SEED might be better once it starts holding above 9.40 or so. There are lots of wicks above it on the daily.
rw [15:29]: I cut loss at less than 1% and do not keep trading stocks beyond the day so i have nothing in the bag........
rw [15:30]: buying COP if it gets to 53.00 even again -------
Andrew [15:30]: long FAZ 15.13
Andrew [15:32]: tripled up on FAZ 15.15
Andrew [15:32]: The financials have still been showing some relative weakness in the recent rally.
rw [15:36]: did not buy COP thank goodness at 53dollars
ortrade [15:37]: Exit CROX no gain/loss.
Andrew [15:37]: Good call on the selloff potential ortrade.
ortrade [15:38]: yeah, trouble till then lost today ~399$pe and 118$.. nasty
ortrade [15:39]: meant -118$
Gar [15:39]: Came around for the final 20 minutes.
ortrade [15:40]: hi Gar.
123 [15:41]: Gar I noticed my papertrader positions all disapeered.....no big deal but may be bug?
Gar [15:41]: Oddly, I see giant sell spikes in FXE (Euro ETF), I mean HUGE spikes. Explains the market downslide.
rko [15:41]: My papertrader's fixed Gar. Thanks
Gar [15:42]: 123, I ran a script that rebuilt everyone's balances correctly. I do not know why positions disappeared?
123 [15:42]: I just noticed today that positions were gone???
ortrade [15:43]: Gar, Can you please retore the previous sector classification. The current one has many subsectors (instead of sectors), it has few stocs in each and when Screens are applied to those sub-sectors we hardly get any signals. Thank you.
Andrew [15:43]: The volume is increasing a little bit on this selling but we should still end the day with disappointing volume.
Gar [15:44]: ortrade, now I don't know what to do. I had requests to break them down further. Now you think it is too many? What do I do?
ortrade [15:45]: Perhaps have sector clasification and subsector classification and checkmark which to use..
Gar [15:46]: That's too much major work for now. Perhaps I should just combined them so there are more sectors but not as many as this version.
ortrade [15:48]: I liked your previous classification I would apply a screen to sector with few hundered stocks and get nice signals for further screening.
LEECO [15:49]: Or you could put sectors as before then have an indentation of the sub-sectors under each major sector heading EX. Energy indent Oil & Gas--Oil & bGas Equipment -- Oil & Gas Exploration
Gar [15:49]: Well, I know, but I was receiving several requests to break them down into more groups. For example, all energy stocks were in "Basic Materials," but so was gold and metals.
Gar [15:50]: Leeco (and ordtrade), that kind of feature is MAJOR work. I really don't want to do any "sub groups." It has to be just a sector list...for now.
ortrade [15:50]: Sounds great Gar.
Andrew [15:52]: I liked Oracle II's ability to click on a sector and see which industries were in that sector, but maybe that interface was more difficult for people to learn.
LEECO [15:52]: OK I preer the many sectors- saves time looking at a lot of stocks not of interest
LEECO [15:52]: prefer nor preer
Gar [15:53]: Hard to please everyone.
Andrew [15:53]: Wow, the buying the last 15 minutes was sold into aggressively.
LEECO [15:54]: Are we goig to end in the red today?
Gar [15:54]: I noticed the bear/bull meter snapped lower about 50 points.
Gar [15:54]: If you think about it, there is no catalyst that should rally the market.
LEECO [15:55]: GAR-don't fret -you can't please everone-If some wants special features-do the3m for them at a price
rw [15:55]: Andrew - Leeco - I will be gone rest of week - please mention hello to new trials and also gar book if you all would............thanks
LEECO [15:55]: rw-have a good vacation with the missus
ortrade [15:56]: Exit IRF +46$pe
ortrade [15:56]: Exit AEO no gain /loss.
ortrade [15:57]: Exit TBL +62$pe
ortrade [15:57]: Exit ATVI +18$pe
ortrade [15:58]: Exit TII BRKS and ZRAN break even
ortrade [15:59]: Exit SRCL -34$pe and FORM +31$pe
ortrade [15:59]: Exit FAZ +291$pe
Andrew [15:59]: out FAZ +1.3%
wella04 [16:02]: hi
ortrade [16:02]: Gar, I built my trading around the large sectors classification. The small sectors makes trading from me very dificult from the reason I mentioned. For other people the sectors is more of a commodity they hardly use. The subsector classfication could be done at a later time if other traders insist.
LEECO [16:02]: nite all
fwguyus [16:02]: this market has been so tough...to trade..
fwguyus [16:03]: this market has been so tough..to trade..
Andrew [16:03]: Yeah I agree.
lindo [16:03]: Hope it gets easier
fwguyus [16:04]: i have a feeling its not with all the bad things going on..
Gar [16:04]: ortrade, what I think I should do for now is to combine them, so there is perhaps 15-20 groups vs. like 50 groups. For example, "Basic Materials" should not include oil, gas, gold and silver. Precious metals should be a seperate group from energy.
Andrew [16:05]: We've been range-bound in a pretty big range over the last month.
lindo [16:05]: Gar, that sounds like a good compromise
fwguyus [16:06]: does anyone her know how and what to buy into funds or any equities that are more long term safety nets..like gold funds..etc.
fwguyus [16:07]: Gar I dont understand how breaking up the catagories is going to help, when everyone here does not trade of fundamentals..
fwguyus [16:07]: or at least most of them..
ortrade [16:08]: Gar I have an excel work sheet that has the sectors sheets and contain the stock subsectors. I would like to email you before you make further changes to take a look if that classification would work.
Andrew [16:09]: fwguyus, for example you can look at the hot sectors and then find other stocks that could be lagging the leaders so can catch a broader move at a better price.
Gar [16:09]: fwguyus, has nothing to do with fundamentals. The sector list shows which groups are getting the action. The "ratings" are derived from money inflows and outflows. Nothing to do with fundamentals.
fwguyus [16:10]: got it..thks..
ortrade [16:10]: fwguyus, sector screening is very usefull in particular in the morning when considering gaps.
Gar [16:10]: ortrade, are there less categories in the spreadsheet you have? Right now, there should be a happy medium. I didn't like the wide, sweeping groups before, and now you have a point that there are too many.
ortrade [16:11]: Gar I believe it is something in between what we had before and what there is now.
madriver [16:25]: Any idea why AIG is up so much....short squeeze?
madriver [16:25]: I see not good news
madriver [16:25]: no
Andrew [16:29]: Probably just shorts covering after the tight consolidation the last 2 weeks.
Andrew [16:31]: There were lots of sellers from 37.00-38.00 as well.
ortrade [16:34]: Gar, In the case you still on the chat I emailed you the worksheet to admin@garsworld.com in xls (Excel 2003) and xlsx (2007) format. Let me know if you received the email and can open the files. Thank you.
Gar [16:36]: ortrade, can you re-mail it to garsworld@gmail.com?
ortrade [16:37]: will do.
ortrade [16:40]: email sent Gar.
Gar [18:49]: Got some pretty good results posting the book promo over the weekend. Hence, here it is again: www.garsworld.com/bookpromo.htm. This most excellent material will show you how to trade super small stakes for large gains. Ideal for anyone with minimal funds (which means, like, most people).
madriver [21:16]: BP has hired GS, Credit Suisse etc ............hmmmm
