Iswing64 [0:01]: LOL yes can get very wacky nowadays.

Andrew [0:02]: That 12:35-12:50 bar was also very scary looking. Was that when the debt downgrade was announced?

Iswing64 [0:03]: Yeah..read the news on cnbc...and more bad news on the way..scary stuff

Iswing64 [0:04]: Be ready to trade FAZ..LOL

Iswing64 [0:05]: Or any bear etf's

Andrew [0:05]: Yeah. The futures are pretty red right now.

Iswing64 [0:07]: About average for the last 3 hours..ive been watchin off/on.

Iswing64 [0:12]: Read on cnbc earlier today the ECB said to expect another 230 billion debt problem..YIKES!!

Andrew [0:14]: It's hard to comprehend how much money that is it's so huge.

Iswing64 [0:15]: Prolly take us down with them!!

Andrew [0:15]: I hope not.

Andrew [0:15]: But everything is pretty connected.

Iswing64 [0:16]: Yes it is..

Iswing64 [0:18]: Last i looked dollar rising..looking for chart..

Iswing64 [0:21]: How much lower can the euro go..wow

Andrew [0:21]: Over a very long investment time period there could be a great bargain in the euro soon. Maybe the pound would be safer though.

Iswing64 [0:26]: Do you think a large part of where we go from here will be more related to currency??

Iswing64 [0:26]: USD/EUR

Andrew [0:27]: I'm not sure. I've never taken more than an intro macro economics course.

Iswing64 [0:31]: Was there an etf for the usd? seems like there was..

Iswing64 [0:38]: Well i'm turnin in for the night..have a good night.

Iswing64 [0:38]: Hi jake..

Jake [0:39]: Hi

Andrew [0:40]: How have you been Jake?

Jake [0:41]: Good now. Had some shots in my lower back to cushion it and can now walk without a limp. Hope it last...lol

Andrew [0:41]: Great.

Andrew [0:42]: Do you think the market can head a lot higher this week?

Jake [0:42]: Yep... Getting a new hip towards the end of the month. After the rehab, I hope to be much better.

Jake [0:43]: Used to be a long distance runner. Wrecked my hips, back, and knees doing that, but I sure did enjoy it...lol

Andrew [0:44]: How long does the rehab take?

Jake [0:44]: Different for each individual, but I hope to be back in the saddle in a month. Doc says as much as 3 mos

Andrew [0:45]: Good luck!

Jake [0:45]: Thanks

Jake [0:47]: I need some luck on trading right now. Early last week canceled my buy on FBC because I was having a lot of med work done, now look at it.

Jake [0:48]: Additionally, I had already bought FBP and it was losing me money. I didn't want to add insult to injury...lol

Andrew [0:49]: It was just a reverse stock split - you didn't miss much.

Jake [0:49]: Ok, that explains the jump.

Andrew [0:50]: It was 1-for-10 so $5 = the old $0.50

Jake [0:50]: Ok

Andrew [0:51]: Those cheap financial companies seem to be making very large moves though the last few months.

Jake [0:51]: Didn't help FAZ to do that. All it did was to screw us who were enjoying some cheap good movement.

Andrew [0:52]: A lot of people here were trading ones like PCBC a lot.

Jake [0:52]: Yep, had some of that too.

Jake [0:53]: where are you?

Andrew [0:53]: I experimented a little bit with penny stocks for the first time, but I think unless there's extreme bullishness in the market, I'm going to stick to stocks over $5 for the most part.

Andrew [0:54]: I'm not appearing in the list?

Jake [0:54]: I look for breakouts each night. Sometimes they work, sometimes not.

Jake [0:54]: What list

Jake [0:55]: I meant what part of the country

Andrew [0:55]: Massachusetts

Jake [0:55]: Ok, both of us up late

Jake [0:55]: I'm in SC

nester [7:49]: NEW YORK (AP) -- Stock futures tumbled Tuesday after the euro fell to a new four-year low.

Major U.S. indexes are set to resume their slide due to fresh concerns about the health of Europe's economic recovery. Stocks fell late Friday ahead of the long holiday weekend after Fitch Ratings cut its view on Spain's debt.

A slowdown in manufacturing in China is also worrying investors.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 122 points Friday. Dow futures are down another 114 points early Monday.

nester [7:49]: PARIS (AP) -- World stocks fell Tuesday amid investor concern about the global economy as a report showed Chinese manufacturing slowed in May, and on continued fears about Europe's shaky government finances.

London's FTSE index was down over 110 points, or 2.13 percent, at 5077.86. The CAC 40 index of leading French shares was down more than 86 points, or 2.47 percent, at 3,420.99, while Germany's DAX dropped over 122 points, or 2.05 percent, to 5,841.87.

Shares in BP PLC plunged 13 percent to 429.2 pence ($6.20) on the London Stock Exchange. Because of a bank holiday, Tuesday was the first day of London trading after the oil company's failed attempt over the weekend to block the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico.

BP said that costs for the spill have reached $990 million

nester [7:50]: SINGAPORE (AP) -- Oil prices tumbled to near $72 a barrel Tuesday in Asia as weakness in global stocks and the euro dragged on appetite for crude.

Benchmark crude for July delivery was down $1.51 at $72.46 a barrel at late afternoon Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract last settled down 58 cents at $73.97 on Friday because markets in the U.S. were closed Monday for the Memorial Day holiday.

Crude traded as high as $75.17 a barrel in Europe on Monday.

nester [7:50]: WASHINGTON (AP) -- The economy trudges ahead yet debt dogs many Americans, stressing them out even as they firm up their own financial foundations.

There are new jobs produced but old worries persisting for people despite belt-tightening and boosted savings, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll.

About 46 percent of those surveyed say they're suffering from debt-related stress, and half of that group described their stress as "great deal" or "quite a bit." On the other hand, about 53 percent say they feel little or no stress at all.

nester [7:51]: SEOUL (Reuters) - The U.S. central bank's liquidity support was helpful in containing the 2008 financial crisis but it could have done more, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Charles Evans said on Tuesday.

"While the liquidity support we provided the economy was very helpful, it was clearly not enough," Evans, who is not a voting member of the U.S. interest rate-setting panel, said during a panel session at a seminar in Seoul.

"Given the huge resource gaps, and low and declining inflation, more monetary accommodation was appropriate," he added. He did not comment on the future policy of the Federal Reserve or on the economic situation.

nester [7:51]: FRANKFURT — Despite recent improvements in the health of European banks, they remain vulnerable to a daunting array of hazards that are expected to produce another round of sizable write-offs during the next couple of years, the European Central Bank said Monday, in a report that cataloged in alarming detail the problems facing the region’s financial institutions.

The challenges for banks in the 16-nation euro zone include exposure to a weakening commercial real estate market, hundreds of billions of euros in bad debts, economic problems in East European countries, and a potential collision between the banks’ own substantial refinancing needs and government demand for additional loans, the central bank said.

nester [7:52]: NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Among the companies whose shares are expected to see active trade in Tuesday's session are Morgan Stanley, Fifth Third Bancorp, AIG, and Oracle. The Nasdaq and NYSE markets are closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

THC Tenet Healthcare: Bidding for Healthscope of Australia; potential recapitalization? - Stifel Nicolaus (5.72)Stifel Nicolaus notes, Dow Jones and Bloomberg are reporting that Tenet has made a non-binding bid of $1.6 bln for Healthscope, an Australian hospital operator. The co responded that it does not comment on "market rumors", upon firm's inquiry. There appears to be little strategic benefit in owning an Asian hospital company. The transaction may be a strong enough catalyst to enable Tenet to recapitalize its balance sheet. One of the media sources suggested the co may be financed under an OPCO/REIT structure, where the real estate assets were placed in a REIT.

S&P futures vs fair value: -13.80. Nasdaq futures vs fair value: -9.00. Stock futures for the Nasdaq have managed to slash their premarket losses, but futures for the broader S&P 500 still point to a sharp loss for the start of trade. The weakness is largely underpinned by continued weakness among markets overseas, where concerns about the fiscal health of many eurozone countries has led the euro to a new multiyear low against the greenback. Concerns over the continent's financial conditions certainly haven't been helped by word that the European Central Bank believes eurozone banks face further writedowns in the next 18 months. Meanwhile, weaker-than-expected data from China has called into question the country's growth prospects and led the Shanghai Composite down more than 3% during the course of the past two sessions -- the index is now only fractionally above its 52-week low. The possibility that China's growth may not be all that many have hoped has put pressure back on oil prices, which are currently down 1.7% to $72.70 per barrel. However, gold prices have climbed 1.0% to $1225 per ounce as many participants seek safety. Coming up at 10:00 AM ET are a couple of potential trading catalysts in the May ISM Manufacturing Index and April construction spending numbers.

Iswing64 [23:23]: Good watchlist there jake a couple of those need some buyers.Funny ya know i never daytraded until i came here..got the bug from the forum i guess

Iswing64 [23:25]: MACD cross a great lead indicator in any time frame..or macd histogram

Jake [23:25]: Understand. Right now is not a good time to hold anything. I don't like it, but am forced to do what works right now. Love to get back in the way it was a couple of years ago.

Jake [23:26]: Agree with the macd; however, I put a couple of other indicators with it to make me feel comfortable with it.

Iswing64 [23:27]: I hear that jake..just before the fat finger day i had quite a few trades in trending stocks..traded in and out of them for months

Iswing64 [23:28]: Agree..jake//what indicators do you prefer?

Jake [23:30]: On swing trading, I like the %R Williams to hit near 0 , then a few days later to have the price macd to cross up and have the 7 ma cross the 30 ma. At that crossing, it is normally a good hit and you'll do well.

Iswing64 [23:33]: Interesting ma combo..my basic set up is about the same but i like 13ema cross up and over 20 sma..and throw in parabolic sar singnal..and thats sbout it.

Iswing64 [23:34]: for longs anyway

Iswing64 [23:35]: but macd normaly catches my eye first

Jake [23:35]: I use that setup for options. Can do the reverse on shorts. Most of the time I don't bail unless I have at least 100% on the trade. The last two years has made me re-evaluate...lol

Iswing64 [23:35]: lol

Jake [23:36]: We've had a weird ride up. None of it makes sense.

Iswing64 [23:41]: lol..I know... holding faz overnight...and dcth..not feeling so good about it.

Iswing64 [23:41]: Day trade faz here and there lately..but it's a tough one to trade

Iswing64 [23:43]: Hard to argue with how it looks jake hope your right!!

Jake [23:45]: Right now, FAZ is consolidating, but the market is looking like it will move down. It might take a few days, but I believe it will go down. I'm not really happy about that...lol. I'm holding some banking stock...lol

Iswing64 [23:48]: Yes ihad some BAC last week changed my mind.. took a small loss on that one

Iswing64 [23:50]: some smaller banks were good trades not too long ago..

Jake [23:50]: SDS, TYP, and FAZ all look like they will move up; however, they are in consolidation right now and they could move the other way, but my gut says all move up.

Jake [23:50]: yes, had some fun with those, but now they are flondering.
