Andrew [2:29]: eMini Futures +3300 @ 2:30am

Andrew [2:31]: New York Times - European leaders agreed on Monday to provide a huge rescue package of nearly $1 trillion in a sweeping effort to combat the debt crisis that has engulfed Europe and threatened markets around the world.

Gar [2:39]: Those futures are raving lunacy. There is no way a monster spike like this tomorrow AM won't draw huge selling. Dow lost 600 points last week, do you think they aren't going to sell aggressively into a giant open?

Andrew [2:40]: Yeah I think a bear ETF near the open could be good, but the shorts might be more afraid and the large institutional sellers less aggressive and might wait for better prices to get aggressive.

Gar [2:41]: Maybe. But I remember this exact same pattern before the financial debacle a year and a half ago. Big bailout deals causing giant futures and spikes higher, only to be met with major selling a day later for large losses.

Gar [2:43]: Put it this way. If these futures hold, the Dow is set to open like +250. Which is absurd. If that doesn't attract sellers who were almost wiped out last week, I don't know what will.

Andrew [2:45]: I'm planning to go short near the open for at least a scalp and see if the market fills the gap. If not, and the bids seem to hold above, I'll get heavily long for a potentially big short squeeze day.

Gar [2:47]: It might take while for the early bubble to implode. The Europeans will be the main pile-in shovelers (same people driving up the futures right now), so it might require their markets to close later in the day.

Gar [2:47]: I think the shorts will get squeezed out very early.

Andrew [2:48]: Oh, and then the bears will gain control back later in the day?

Gar [2:48]: i.e. imagine being a huge short and the Dow gaps up +350? I think you will cover...lol.

Andrew [2:48]: Good point.

Gar [2:48]: The bears might not gain full control, but I can't imagine a giant gap up---following such carnage from last week---hold all day.

Gar [2:50]: especially after this "news" settles in, and everyone realizes nothing has changed. Wouldn't this $trillion package all be more debt?

Gar [2:51]: Maybe the FTSE will give us a clue, it opens in 10 minutes. I want to see if it spikes to Mars and then decays.

Gar [2:51]: ...lol what am I doing here?! It's late for me. Gotto go....

Andrew [2:52]: I think it's kind of like the strongr EU countries subsidizing the weaker ones and then the Fed helping out lending money to European central banks.

Andrew [2:53]: That's really cool to be able to watch the UK stocks with StockVision. I think I'll watch the first half hour or so of trading before going back to sleep.

Gar [2:54]: Wait til they start saying, "...wait, if the Europeans did THAT much bailout, then perhaps it is far worse than we tought?"

Gar [2:54]: thought

Gar [2:54]: Trust me, they will find an excuse to start up the selling again. The market has changed its pattern.

Andrew [2:55]: Yeah, even after our huge bailout package in Oct. 2008 we still had a ton more selling in the medium-term.

Andrew [2:55]: But there were some large green days every once in a while.

Gar [2:56]: Yes, I think that's what I was talking about earlier. And, same thing, giant bloated futures.

Gar [2:56]: Bear markets and bear cycles often have explosive, massive rallies. Moreso than bull markets, oddly enough.

Andrew [2:57]: Is it from the greater short covering helping fueling the buying more?

Gar [2:57]: Maybe, but I am not sure. But one thing I do know---which has no exceptions---is volatility indicates weakness, NOT strength. A volatile market is always headed for more downside.

Gar [2:58]: Wild swings = future downside. I have never seen an exception to that.

Andrew [2:58]: On Friday the VIX went even higher than on Thursday.

Gar [2:59]: Yes, and the VIX will plummet early tomorrow, with the market spiking massively. If that isn't volatility I don't know what is. Which means weakness in the near future.

Gar [3:00]: I think VIX will top at 50-ish. It's not near that yet.

Gar [3:00]: I think I'll stay online for a few to see what the FTSE does.

Andrew [3:00]: Maybe the only thing we really need to be watching is UUP and FXE.

Gar [3:01]: Lol, indeed. The market trades in absolute lockstep with those.

Gar [7:01]: Yep, there's the initial FTSE spike. Give it 10 minutes and let's see if it holds.

Gar [7:02]: FTSE...volume..+2000%. What a bunch of lunatics.

Andrew [7:04]: The shorts are getting destroyed.

Gar [7:07]: In a few minutes I think I will do a papertrade short on some bloated UK stock.

Gar [7:08]: This is pretty much what we will see in the US markets at the open.

Andrew [7:09]: Does the UK have any market ETFs?

Gar [7:11]: I think so.

Gar [7:12]: They have bear ETFs for commodities too.

Gar [7:12]: Oh man, crude oil will also spike into outer space.

Andrew [7:12]: The banks like RBS and LLOY have already come down a lot.

Gar [7:13]: I'm already up 0.5% on my UK papertrade short...lol.

Andrew [7:13]: Oil & Gas is top sector

Gar [7:15]: I'll bet the dollar is getting dessimated.

Andrew [7:16]: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/cbuilder?ticker1=DXY%3AIND

Andrew [7:17]: Oh that site is actually on a delay.

Gar [7:17]: Still it's pretty downtrendy for tonight so far.

Gar [7:18]: Looks like the FTSE might not want to pull back. I have a feeling this whole day is going to violate everything I thought I knew...

Gar [7:19]: Well, it's late, I gotta take off. I can hardly stand to watch this spiking anyway, I find it impossible to trade. See ya...

Andrew [7:20]: All the smart money who really wants to sell more of their positions taking profits probably won't see any reason to get too aggressive today.

Andrew [7:20]: Bye

Willie2 [6:48]: E MINI futures up 4,642 wow, hang on to your ass today ha ha

nester [7:33]: NEW YORK (AP) -- Stock futures skyrocketed Monday after European leaders agreed to a nearly $1 trillion rescue plan to avoid a major debt crisis and the U.S. Federal Reserve said it would also provide loans overseas.

Dow Jones industrial average futures rose 382 points.

The 16 countries that use the euro and the International Monetary Fund have agreed to create a nearly $1 trillion rescue fund to support European nations burdened by heavy debt. Markets around the world plummeted last week as fears escalated that Greece's debt problems would spread throughout Europe and upend a global economic recovery.

nester [7:33]: NEW YORK (AP) -- The rate of late mortgage payments dropped in the first quarter for the first time since 2006, according to credit reporting agency TransUnion.

The 60-day delinquency rate slipped to 6.77 percent, from 6.89 percent in the fourth quarter of 2009. That was the first decline after 12 consecutive quarters of steady increases, TransUnion said.

The first-quarter figure still represents a substantial jump from a year ago, when delinquencies were at 5.22 percent. But FJ Guarrera, vice president in TransUnion's financial services business unit, said it's still good news.

nester [7:34]: A lot of investors are worried about rising interest rates and inflation, and not without cause. The yield on the 10-year Treasury bond is at a generational low; government spending and borrowing has erupted; and, although the Fed has said it'll keep its funds rate near zero for "an extended period," that won't last forever. When rates do increase, bond owners will feel it. On that much, most investors agree. There's less consensus on equities. Stocks may be better off than fixed income when interest rates rise, but it's not clear by how much.

No Slam-Dunk
To stay competitive if bond yields rise far enough, the market may reset stock valuations lower to increase their prospective long-term returns. Rising interest expenses also could clip corporate profits. Both of those possibilities spell poor returns for stocks at least in the short term.

nester [8:27]: what is up with this market? futures over 4000?

whoopsie [8:27]: so how does this US pre market work then, I see lots of trades coming in, does this dictate the opening prices?

jim [8:27]: dollar is weak this morning UUP is off 1.2%

carr [8:28]: whoopsie, it is much like the regular market with much less volume prices could go anywhere at the official open

nester [8:28]: yes, it will. it is best not to trade it if you don't have any experience in it. get burned quick

carr [8:30]: very true nester, especiall with drug stocks

whoopsie [8:31]: Yes I wasn't going to trade it until market opens, just wanted to know if it effects the opening price.

carr [8:32]: sometimes just the opposite of that the pre- market leads you to think.

carr [8:32]: jim is a good pre- market trader, so watch some of his trades.

nester [8:33]: premarket is a funny thing. i have noticed that if you have a ticker and it is way up in the pre, then it is best to sell as that is most of the time the best price of the day. if they run way up, most of the time they will pullback

carr [8:33]: no pressure jim

whoopsie [8:33]: thank nester/carr, appreciatate that advice

jim [8:34]: Thxs Carr

picker304 [8:34]: DF gap down 11.5%. Watch if market ramps up though

compoundgains [8:38]: Is it logical to go long on FAZ if it opens down >10%?

nester [8:39]: one would say "yes"; however, the way they are playing with this market, i would wait for a clear sign before entering it

compoundgains [8:42]: Yes, my mistake...FAZ and logical...what an oxymoron.

rw [8:43]: compoundgains ----You have to be extreemly careful when futures are up to play gap downs...works better when futures are down to play gap downs.

karenbcz [14:20]: HANK: did you mean you found HDY in "buy surge" 2%?

Hank [14:20]: I mean trap settings, alert if spikes up quickly 2% and alert buy volume surges quickly 75%

Andrew [14:21]: When there's high volatility, and I'm loading up, it's because I think there's just a low chance of the market staying sideways for a long period of time.

Andrew [14:21]: If it stays sideways I'll normally suffer bad losses on those days.

knight [14:22]: take profit from HOV 6,1 to 6,8 part 1

Andrew [14:23]: out 2/3rds FAZ -0.5%

ortrade [14:23]: In away adding to position is just another trade..

Andrew [14:24]: Yes

madriver [14:25]: i guess the 3x plus volitility may work okay

ortrade [14:25]: In away it is seems harder though to control the positions size and exits as they vary by entry..

Andrew [14:26]: added back to FAZ 12.91

rw [14:27]: sold DF even it is a POS

Andrew [14:27]: added to FAZ 12.94

ortrade [14:27]: IRF 1000s@21.72$pe

Andrew [14:28]: long SFI 6.55

madriver [14:28]: boy if those are individual trades.......I haven't a clue how you keep track of them

Hank [14:28]: SBUX 26.80

Andrew [14:29]: SFI is about a 1.5% trap door setup, but not looking good now

Andrew [14:30]: I like how it's near where it bounced this morning though.

ortrade [14:30]: In away you would need to control losses. That is if price goes against the trade the exits must be layered by the entries otherwise the losses are not controlable..

rw [14:31]: Hank what signals did you use on SBUX long please

Andrew [14:31]: If a FAZ trade starts going against me I try to usually exit 2/3rds for a small loss pretty fast - kind of like paying insurance against a really bad move against me. If it winds up stabilizing I'll just get right back in.

Hank [14:32]: rw, I used my daily adx cross over coming up D+

rw [14:32]: thanks

rw [14:33]: adx 12481 extrme low on sbux now

rw [14:33]: saying the trend is

Hank [14:35]: rw I am seeing the weekly trend up,

madriver [14:35]: carr---how are you doing with esignal today?

Andrew [14:37]: out SFI +0.6%, not liking the lack of buying volume here

Andrew [14:39]: added to FAZ 13.00

Hank [14:39]: ENCO 3.78 trap door up now see how it works out.

Andrew [14:40]: out 1/4th FAZ +1%

ortrade [14:44]: Both SBUX and ENCO had a big drop in ATR sometime before the entry long..

carr [14:45]: madriver esignal is working fine today why do you ask?

Andrew [14:45]: added back to FAZ 13.02

madriver [14:46]: just wondering if it works good in any type of market condition?

majour [14:47]: out half HOV 6.3 to 6.85

Hank [14:48]: I am finding the traps set at 2% and volume 75% gives me 5+ cent move when it shows up on the Traps screen. It does work large volume trade. Keep in mind traps move quick and one must be quick to engage and not type at the same time. I do not erase my traps till end of day and see which stock moved best . The macd at the bottom page gives a good signal . Pard now has a step up and I look for those step to find higher moves.

carr [14:48]: absolutely. I have more problems with my broker processing an order during heavy trading (like Thursday) but esignal data has always been right there.

carr [14:50]: madriver, which version of esignal are you thinking about?

Andrew [14:51]: out 3/4ths FAZ -0.13%

madriver [14:51]: called GET version I believe

carr [14:52]: That is the one I use "Advanced GET"

carr [14:52]: whatever you do though, do not buy their scanner

madriver [14:53]: has anyone ever heard of decisionbar?

carr [14:53]: I use it

carr [14:53]: also trendline trader

madriver [14:53]: carr...what do you think?

madriver [14:53]: boy you have all the goodies!!!!

carr [14:54]: I have been using decisonbar for a few years now and abolutely love it. Combined with trendlinetrader, absolutely amazing.

ortrade [14:55]: Exit VLTR -520$pe (the despair trade)..

Andrew [14:55]: added to FAZ 12.91

Iswing64 [14:57]: Carr can you trade any time frame with decisionbar?

ortrade [14:58]: VLTR 20000s@23.62$pe (retaliation trade - another for of despair trade)..

ortrade [14:58]: correction VLTR 2000s@23.62$pe

carr [14:59]: swing, yes you can any chart time frame that you want

Andrew [15:00]: added to FAZ 12.85

Iswing64 [15:01]: Thanks carr thought about checking into that is there a monthly fee?

Andrew [15:02]: out 2/3rds FAZ -0.17%

Hank [15:02]: ENCO 3.78/3.89 .11 3%

Andrew [15:03]: added to FAZ 12.92

Andrew [15:03]: added to FAZ 12.93

Hank [15:03]: I am finding the traps settings are working around the 5-10 cent moves today.

carr [15:04]: swing it is a monthly fee I think it is around $99, but for me well worth it. It pays for itself in the first few days of the month for me usually the first day I trade based on the indicators. You do need to really understand the material supplied to use it to your best advantage. Check out their web site, but be aware, this is not a "red light / green light" program.

Gar [15:07]: Here for the final hour. I am a bit surprised there hasn't been more selling into this giant gap up.

Hank [15:08]: Pard 1.16 /1.19 .03 3% my traps set at 2% and 75% volume.

carr [15:08]: Hey Gar, you are early today, that is great.

ortrade [15:08]: most of my shorts have been close to 0 most of the day while occasionaly few of them would spike against the trade with few bars forcing an exit at a large loss.. nasty market for shorts..

Gar [15:09]: I haven't made any trades today, I generally can't trade successfully on a gapping up market.

Andrew [15:09]: out 1/3rd FAZ +1.3%

Gar [15:10]: But I do think this rally is a bit overdone.

Andrew [15:10]: There have been a lot of stupid sideways periods but when the market hasn't been going sideways there were a couple of decent moves.

madriver [15:10]: just a little

Hank [15:11]: Pard and ENCO had step up formation and still looking up .The macd did show the crossover at the bottome page.

Gar [15:11]: You mean like 319 points too high.

ortrade [15:11]: I belive the gap was all institution. When it is bozos it retraces easily..

carr [15:11]: I don't think it is so much of a rally as a correction averageing out thursday and friday. It really can't last a whole lot longer.

madriver [15:12]: ridiculous and FTSE was up like 5%...lunar short??

Andrew [15:12]: short RDN 10.19

karenbcz [15:12]: HI GAR ... I've been trying to follow the EURO, but I think I'm using the wrong symbol. What symbol do you use? Is it EURUSD?

Gar [15:12]: Well the reason I am surprised it has held up somewhat is that after last week's slamming losses, I can't believe they aren't selling heavily into this.

123 [15:12]: i use fxe karen

Gar [15:12]: FXE. The Euro ETF.

karenbcz [15:13]: Thanks.

Gar [15:13]: Euro has been decaying all day after a gap up. Another sign this is bogus.

LEECO [15:13]: The market has done the same as every other day -movement in first hours then flat all day all stocks

madriver [15:13]: I'm convinced it will fall apart just another over reaction

karenbcz [15:14]: GAR: so, FXE has an inverse relationship to the DOW?

Andrew [15:14]: So much of the buying volume today seemed to be in the first 1/2 hour so it might be more shorts getting freaked out than funds feeling the need to aggressively buy.

123 [15:15]: a/d at low of day at +15. was anyway

Gar [15:15]: No, the dollar (UUP) is inverse, FXE tends to go in lockstep. But that is only a recent trend, it has not always been that way.

carr [15:15]: Karen EURUSD is the forex symbol for the Euro

Hank [15:16]: Today I did 34% on trades just by using the traps and the 2% stock spike and the 75% volume spike and we walked along. So the traps are proof that this system works. This system works for me, thank you Gar.

karenbcz [15:16]: CARR: Thx. Im using some new software. They told me to use eurusd.

usdojpr [15:16]: Gar/Carr- do you think they will take profits the last half hour?

Andrew [15:17]: added back to FAZ 13.02

rw [15:17]: hANK are upi settomg traps tp 2% and then volume to 75% drop?

Iswing64 [15:18]: Wow hank..thats great!!

Hank [15:18]: rw i use both sides of the traps, the figures are live as we speek, all day long as I posted as I typed along.

JayBird [15:18]: You and StockVision rock....Hank. :-)

Andrew [15:19]: added to RDN short 10.21

Gar [15:19]: usdojpr...I don't know. I thought they would hammer this thing down earlier today. My take on this is most people are "waiting" to see what happens. If true, we will just meander sideways.

rw [15:19]: i used traps for a long time - then they quit working well, I thought,,,,,have to get back to them again Hank....thanks.

Hank [15:20]: I proved to all the traps and this sysemt works, one has to pay attention how to use this system, and then it works. I t works for me anyway. And thankyou JayBird.

carr [15:20]: usdojpr I am hoping for a run up at the closed, but keeping an eye on FAZ. If it starts to head north, no general run is likely.

Andrew [15:21]: In the UK market the buyers came back at the very end of the day.

Gar [15:21]: I think most traders are in "wait and see" mode. Which explains why they aren't pounding this down.

carr [15:22]: we should know by about 3:45 pm eastern

Gar [15:23]: If the market holds true to form, we will likely have both. A sell-off in the final 20 minutes, yet with a renewed pile-in during the final 5 minutes.

Andrew [15:23]: out 2/3rds FAZ -0.2%

Andrew [15:23]: added to RDN short 10.26

carr [15:23]: Good move Andrew, FAZ is headed down for now

usdojpr [15:25]: Thanks guys

Andrew [15:25]: added back to FAZ 12.89

Hank [15:25]: Have a nice evening, nite all.

JayBird [15:25]: Cya Hank

carr [15:25]: Gar, I am thinking about buying some June call $14.00 options on FAZ any thoughts

Iswing64 [15:25]: Bye hank

carr [15:25]: good night Hank

Gar [15:26]: That could work, except FAZ would need to make a fast move. Otherwise, those calls will decay badly with time.

Andrew [15:26]: The triples naturally decay, so maybe puts on XLF would be better?

Gar [15:27]: By "fast" I mean within the next few days, maybe a week.

usdojpr [15:27]: long faz may 2.98 $10 calls into the close

Gar [15:27]: Otherwise, you could get stuck with decay.

carr [15:27]: Thanks Gar and Andrew

Gar [15:28]: That said, FAZ does look like it wants to bounce way up. Generally, I think once the market gets over all this durnken hoopla, we will have lots more downside.

Andrew [15:28]: The bears have been losing every single time for so long, I'd probably want to see a little more confirmation or wait for some more low volume buying to a better price.

carr [15:28]: Now I know I need to learn more

Gar [15:28]: drunken hoopla

Andrew [15:29]: added to FAZ 12.83

Gar [15:29]: carr, getting options way out of the money can be super profitable but only if the stock makes a strong move. The good news is that FAZ is super volatile so it is possible it might do that.

Gar [15:30]: One options play tha I did not mention in the book---but can be a fun ride--is to play puts and calls on the VIX. That can be exciting, and if you call it right, you can make vasts gains.

Gar [15:31]: Buy VIX calls when it is absurdly low, and puts when it is absurdly high.

carr [15:31]: I was looking to hedge all of my long positions against a major decline.

Andrew [15:31]: That sounds like a good strategy.

Gar [15:31]: As for the market close today, I am now thinking we will go mostly sideways. Because I am getting increasingly convinced that most people are in "wait mode."

Gar [15:32]: carr, best way to do that is to buy way out of the money puts. Because they are really cheap, yet if the stock plummets, the puts spike way up.

carr [15:33]: I am learning every time you post Gar

djalecc [15:34]: out half of CPF @ 2.55 +6.6% :-) holding other 1/2 overnight

carr [15:34]: nice job djalecc

karenbcz [15:35]: Am I hallucinating? The market seems to be trending down since 12:30 PM.

Andrew [15:35]: The bears have been in firm control since noon karen.

madriver [15:36]: yes it has

Andrew [15:36]: Ever since the market put in a lower high than right near the open, we've been at best range-bound, and at worst selling off.

madriver [15:36]: kind of a drift lower

Gar [15:36]: You're hallucinating. I haven't seen the market change hardly at all, maybe even slightly up.

Gar [15:37]: I have a hunch tomorrow will be a very red day. If not, an irritating sideways grind.

karenbcz [15:38]: GAR: do you follow Real Estate market? If stock market crashess, will RE continue to go down?

Andrew [15:38]: out 2/3rds FAZ -0.17%

Gar [15:38]: I don't follow real estate that much. But I think it will be more flat than anything.

madriver [15:38]: isn't that an ecomomics question

Gar [15:39]: These guests on CNBC, they are WAY too bullish. That's why I think a lot more downside is coming. I heard like 1 bear today vs. 19 bulls.

usdojpr [15:39]: Gar-Im in long in nflx. june 85 calls. Can you give me an example of way out of the money puts to hedge

madriver [15:39]: Not according to mr paulson...he thinks real estate is going up sharply over the next year according to his conference call today

karenbcz [15:39]: Paulson? who?

madriver [15:40]: John Paulson....hello

Andrew [15:40]: added to FAZ 12.83

madriver [15:41]: hedge fund manager who rigged up the CDO's with Goldman....that John Paulson

Gar [15:41]: Well, NFLX is trading in the upper $90's. Perhaps $80 puts would be way out of the money, but close enough to balloon if the stock collapses.

Andrew [15:41]: Are you in his fund madriver?

karenbcz [15:41]: Wel, it could've been Hank Paulson. I'm not a mindreader.

usdojpr [15:41]: Gar- Thanks-

karenbcz [15:42]: AS IF! We all listen to John Paulson with bated breath. He's a CROOK!

karenbcz [15:42]: Why would I believe him?

Andrew [15:42]: There was a good book about him called The Greatest Trade Ever.

Gar [15:42]: Looks like they are trying to jam us UP and not down. Once again, I am surprised.

Andrew [15:42]: I doubt he did anything legally wrong - he was just working within the system.

madriver [15:42]: I wouldn't listen to him but to each there own. How much lower can real estate go. Real estate is local, local and local

madriver [15:43]: I don't think he did either Andrew.....maybe a little sketchy though

madriver [15:43]: No ...not in that fund

Gar [15:43]: Hey, real estate in a year will be either up, down, or unchanged. That I can guarantee 100%. So any bozo can say "it will be up" and have a 33% chance of being right.

Andrew [15:43]: added to FAZ 12.83

carr [15:43]: Like stocks, real estate is only worth what someone else will pay for it.

Andrew [15:44]: 12.83 actually

Andrew [15:44]: 12.84 I meant - can't type today

karenbcz [15:44]: It can go lower. A friend of mine bought a house back in Nov. for $250K. The owner bought for $400K 3 yrs. ago. My friend thought he got a "steal" until the woman who moved next door told him she got HER house for $175K.

Gar [15:44]: Yes carr that is absolutely right. I have a friend selling property that is "worth" $200K. Buthe is finding the most anyone will pay right now is $120K. So it's worth $120K...period.

carr [15:45]: no matter what one may think it should be worth

karenbcz [15:45]: Right ... it just keeps going lower.

Gar [15:45]: Yes, it's what someone will pay. That is the only true valuation. Same for stocks.

madriver [15:46]: and it's local.....around here it's gone up especially large tracts of land because of the marcellus land grap going on

Gar [15:46]: The "value" of a stock is simply its last trade price.

Andrew [15:46]: out FAZ -0.65%

Andrew [15:46]: long FAS 30.80

Andrew [15:47]: It looks like the buyers are winning again.

Gar [15:47]: I am watching the Dow drift upward in disbelief.

Andrew [15:47]: added to FAS 30.83

karenbcz [15:48]: That guy John Paulson CHOSE the mortgages G/S should sell to banks and investors .... then SHORTED them. He's a crook. Crooked! Should be in jail with Madoff.

karenbcz [15:48]: John Paulson maybe telling people to buy RE, so he can SHORT it again. Lying SOB!

Andrew [15:48]: How was any of that illegal for Paulson though?

madriver [15:49]: Karen you didn't even know who he was 2 minutes ago.

Andrew [15:49]: He was shorting real estate when most others were still buying it aggressively.

Gar [15:49]: Maybe he's right about real estate, but remember, a broken clock is right twice a day.

madriver [15:49]: You must of grapped a headline,.....come on

Andrew [15:50]: He also shorted some regional banks and then turned around and bought them in early 2009. He's had some great timing recently.

karenbcz [15:50]: Andrew: LYING isn't fraudulent. If I tell you SELL YOUR CLIENTS THIS so and so, it's a great investment, KNOWING it sucks, and THEY will lose, and then I go and Short 'em all .... you find NOTHING wrong with that?????

madriver [15:50]: I didn't say he was right....chances are real estate won't go down too much more

Gar [15:50]: I will be curious what the end-of-day bozo brigage will do. I mean in the final close.

Andrew [15:51]: He wasn't an employee of Goldman Sachs - just a client of theirs.

madriver [15:51]: jamm it higher then kill it tomorrow

madriver [15:51]: Actually I wouldn't trust GS with my money. I know someone that works there...no good

karenbcz [15:51]: Andrew: I'm talking about ETHICS. My g*d!! Money is great, but when you sacrifice your integrity for the sake of greed, AT THE EXPENSE of other people, you are a pig! ANd if the gov't doesn't punish you ... G*d will .. in HELL!

Andrew [15:52]: Yes ethically I'm not sure how most people in the finance industry sleep at night.

karenbcz [15:52]: Andrew: I don't have to be an employee of GS to DEFRAUD GS or their clients!

Gar [15:52]: NADAQ up +100?? Oh puhleez.

Gar [15:52]: Puts on the Q's would be a good play here maybe.

madriver [15:53]: Andrew...in all seriousness the guy I know there I went to college with and he would do almost anything to make a buck...including illegally...he did it in college. GS not my thing

nester [15:53]: looks like we may be able to play a lunar today. they are pounding the financials north

madriver [15:53]: I'm not saying he did anything illegal but I know from the past that he wasn't real honest dude

Andrew [15:53]: I don't think I would trust GS if they were my broker for day trading.

Gar [15:54]: My goodness, they are PILING in to the close. I can't even think with this.

madriver [15:54]: SHEEP SHEEP

rw [15:54]: GS would not be concerned with small 2-3hunded thousand dollar trading accounts - they only go after the big money

Joe47121 [15:54]: Gar: Your book 'Low Stakes Power Trading' how do I download it as a pdf? The link http://www.garsworld.com/LowStakesPowerBook/BookLaunch.htm brought me to a table of contents on the left with a Print this section button on top.

carr [15:54]: come on folks this is capitalism at work. If it illegal they will be charged, if not they are working within the rules regardless of whether it is moral or not.

Andrew [15:54]: I guess that 2:00-2:05pm buying action was a signal.

rw [15:54]: carr is right

Andrew [15:55]: I was just joking rw.

rw [15:55]: LOL

Gar [15:55]: Joe, that is the way it is designed. We didn't issue a PDF because it is insecure, people can send it to all their friends, or worse yet, post it to some site for free.

Andrew [15:55]: out RDN -0.3%

Joe47121 [15:55]: You can wait till after market closes. Thanks

karenbcz [15:55]: CARR; You're naive. Don't you read BOOKS. That's what Richard Fuld thought too!

Gar [15:55]: The web site you signed into is effectively a "PDF" because you can print the chapter(s) if you want.

Andrew [15:55]: out half FAS +1.3%

carr [15:55]: karen not naive at all, just a realist.

rw [15:56]: Karenbcz -------Have a good evening ------See you tomorrow.......Now I am going to look for the cat

Joe47121 [15:56]: oh I see that is what I thought... Thanks.

Gar [15:56]: This market spiking now is flying right into the teeth of everything I thought I knew.

madriver [15:56]: Take it easy. Goldman is like the mafia.....if they can keep everyone close to the fold they will be okay. If the government and divide and conquer they might have a problem

karenbcz [15:56]: CARR; Ever heard of Long Term Capital Management. That's what they thought too. "IF I DON'T GET CAUGHT, IT'S LEGAL".

nester [15:56]: FAZ is dropping like a rock...

Iswing64 [15:56]: Big time

carr [15:57]: but if you do get caught you go to jail.

Andrew [15:57]: Our close might look similar to the UK one.

madriver [15:57]: I meant to say if the government can divide and conquer

rw [15:57]: Yes up 500 or so on dow

nester [15:57]: FAZ $12 calls looking pretty good right now...

Gar [15:57]: This is a textbook lunar short setup, actually. It's blatant foolishness.

madriver [15:58]: I don't think they did anything illegal but I think they are pretty unethical but what do they care....you don't get time for being unethical

Gar [15:58]: FAZ calls at the close could be a good trade. The chances of these bozos creating momentum tomorrow are near 0%.

Andrew [15:58]: The volume today, though relatively good, is still a ton less than all the selling the 2 previous days.

ortrade [15:58]: They are ramping it up into the close big..

Gar [15:58]: Yes, which is insane, by any standard.

karenbcz [15:58]: HEY GUYS!! June $47 QQQ puts are only $1.33 .. !!!

madriver [15:58]: how about buying faz at close GAR?

karenbcz [15:58]: You've bot ONE MINUTE to buy!

karenbcz [15:58]: got

Gar [15:58]: Just buying FAZ could be good too.

karenbcz [15:59]: yetsterday those puts were $3.oo !!

Andrew [15:59]: out 2nd half FAS +1.6%

ortrade [15:59]: Just got back and exited all my shorts ~-2000$pe for the day..

Andrew [15:59]: They took us back to levels where there has been a lot of stock for sale today.

karenbcz [16:00]: FXP is only $41.10.

Gar [16:00]: The time to do shorts would have been like now, after they all piled in.

ortrade [16:01]: in experimental strategies I meant. The morning shorts worked well for the day +62$p and +262$p for the last 3 weeks morning shorts.

usdojpr [16:01]: will stay in FAZ overnight. Should get a huge bounce in the morning.

nester [16:01]: FAZ $12 calls 1.08

Gar [16:01]: I can't stay, I gotta head out. Don't forget the book folks, if you haven't obtained it already. www.garsworld.com/bookpromo.htm

karenbcz [16:01]: GAR: the June $47. puts were only $1.33. We can check them tomorrow. :>)

Andrew [16:01]: Maybe tomorrow the market will test the high from Thursday morning before the big sell-off.

Iswing64 [16:01]: What month nester?

karenbcz [16:02]: prolly June

nester [16:02]: this month...

karenbcz [16:02]: geesh!

Iswing64 [16:03]: Do those expire at the end of the month,or earlier

carr [16:03]: may 20

nester [16:03]: may 22

carr [16:03]: right nester

Iswing64 [16:03]: thank you

karenbcz [16:03]: That's EXPENSIVE!! You could've gotten JUNE Q puts for only $1.33.

nester [16:03]: don't like to pay for the time

karenbcz [16:03]: More time value = June

karenbcz [16:04]: We'll check 'em tomorrow and see how you do ... :>) $$$$$$$$$$$$$

nester [16:04]: not plannin on holding that long. dump them tomorrow

Andrew [16:05]: I think tomorrow's the hearing when Congress questions the SEC and other regulators about the market structure and what happened in Thursday's plung.

Andrew [16:05]: plunge

nester [16:05]: i try not to go out more than 3 weeks on an option

usdojpr [16:06]: Great Day today. I hope you all did well.

JayBird [16:06]: Good day...recovered 1/2 of losses

Andrew [16:07]: There was a lot of opportunity today, but I'd still consider it one of the more difficult days in a while.

usdojpr [16:07]: same

Andrew [16:07]: Lots of trend reversals.

nester [16:09]: got to run have a good nite all

carr [16:09]: congratulations JayBird, I wish I could say that.

carr [16:09]: take care nester

Andrew [16:09]: Nice job JB.

usdojpr [16:09]: Worst day ever on Friday. Best day today. WOW. What a roller coaster. I have learned more in the last week that I have in years. No more hoping and guessing. Gars book is really helpful mentally.

Andrew [16:10]: That's great usdojpr. I'm going to go buy the book.

carr [16:10]: glad to have you here usdojpr, but I think we need to shorten your name to something like usd

Andrew [16:11]: The charts of the overall market on both Friday and today were pretty sloppy.

usdojpr [16:11]: I will go in and change to JPR today. If its available.

JPR [16:11]: Its changed. Lets test it out

Andrew [16:12]: Sideways + Volatile normally is difficult to actively trade unless you either take profits quickly or use a wide stop loss.

JPR [16:12]: Carr- Youve been helpful as well. thanks

madriver [16:13]: carr...did you buy Gar's book?

carr [16:13]: JPR is good

carr [16:14]: madriver, I bought it within the first week.

madriver [16:14]: did you get a hard copy??

JayBird [16:14]: Thanks guys....but the thing is.......one shouldn't have losses like that....period. I'm not minding the store very well here in Montana with the VERY slow server connection

madriver [16:15]: everything is a little slow in Montana

carr [16:15]: no, I don' think the hard copy is out yet. I have the on line version which can be printed locally.

madriver [16:15]: okay...you answered my question.thx

carr [16:16]: JayBird, can't you get a faster connection in Montana?

JayBird [16:16]: mad....you seem to know Montana

JPR [16:16]: Online version in my opinion is the best.

madriver [16:17]: Jay..I didn't mean you were slow.....yeah I've been there many times. My sister lives in Livingston

carr [16:17]: On line is ideal because you can go back as many times as you want, and you can print whatever you want.

madriver [16:17]: works in Bozeman

JayBird [16:17]: Yes....carr....a faster connection was arranged today........16mbps is ridiculous. The problem has been the cost for extra speed....

madriver [16:18]: dsl or cable?? I hope it's not a satellite

carr [16:18]: JayBird I hope that helps, in this market you need a fast connection.

JayBird [16:18]: .61 was reduced to .16 mbps because of overusage

JayBird [16:18]: It is a satellite connection

madriver [16:19]: oh....does that ever get taken out by the sun??

JayBird [16:19]: You're absolutely right....carr

carr [16:19]: Satellite is good for download speeds which is great for data, but slow with upload which is bad for orders.

madriver [16:20]: I heard it does but maybe they've improved

madriver [16:20]: carr....satellite is last resort

JayBird [16:20]: Snow affects satellite...I think clouds also

carr [16:21]: I know, I lived in a place in California where it was the only option.

carr [16:21]: much better than dial up

JayBird [16:21]: Where was that...carr? I'm a Calif. native

carr [16:22]: It was Vacaville, but I also lived in Santa Clara and Sunnyvale

JayBird [16:23]: Bet you're happy not to be in Calif. now.

carr [16:24]: Made a lot of money in Sunnyvale and Santa Clara on real estate and yes from that point of view I am happy, but I really miss living in California.

karenbcz [16:24]: CARR: I used to live in Sunnyvale AND Santa Clara.

karenbcz [16:25]: Also Mountain View, Burlingame, Palo Alto ...

carr [16:25]: karen who did you work for then

karenbcz [16:25]: Xerox

carr [16:25]: I worked for HP

karenbcz [16:26]: Also lived in Oakland and Tiburon. :>)

karenbcz [16:26]: I sure miss those flight benefits!

karenbcz [16:26]: booo hoo!

karenbcz [16:26]: Now I have to use Travelzoo.

carr [16:26]: you can keep most of Oakland, but Tiburon is pretty nice.

carr [16:27]: I miss all the business travel and associated air miles

karenbcz [16:27]: Actually, I hate Calif. I'll never go back. LOL!

carr [16:28]: I really loved living there. Where do you live now?

karenbcz [16:28]: Wash DC

karenbcz [16:28]: Love it!

karenbcz [16:28]: I should've said DC "area" ..

carr [16:29]: So you don't have nasty winters like Toronto except for maybe this year

karenbcz [16:29]: Toronto? You're in Toronto?

carr [16:29]: Yes, my grand kids are here so we moved to C

carr [16:29]: Canada two years ago

karenbcz [16:30]: CARR; The reason Y I asked about RE prices ... I'm thinking of selling ... and moving to ... Central America.

karenbcz [16:30]: Panama, Belize ... not sure.

karenbcz [16:31]: Or I can just drive down the street, and be in El Salvador instanteously! ROFL!

carr [16:31]: Belize is nice but a little expensive, Panama is more affordable but not quite as safe. I grew up in Venezuela.

karenbcz [16:32]: Carr: in Venezuela? No kidding!! Fantastic!!

carr [16:32]: Yes, I lived there for 12 years, then in Belgium for 3.

karenbcz [16:33]: Carr: State Department?

carr [16:33]: No, my father worked for Firestone, and then Celanese

karenbcz [16:33]: ok. great!

karenbcz [16:33]: CARR: So you're fluent en espanol?

carr [16:34]: Si claro

karenbcz [16:34]: kewl!

carr [16:36]: heading out for the night. Good night Karen, JayBird, Andrew, and Ortrade

karenbcz [16:36]: adios, carr. Tenga buenos noches! :>)

carr [16:36]: hasta luego mi amiga

karenbcz [16:37]: hasta manana!

Andrew [16:37]: Have a good afternoon.
